APS is happy to report that there is strong legislative support to finally begin addressing the chronic problem of Medicare eligible seniors access to physicians in Anchorage.

Senator Kevin Meyer along with Representatives Mike Hawker and Bill Stoltze held a press conference last week outlining what the clinic would look like, and the legislature's support to provide startup capital for the project. Dr. George Rhyneer represented APS at the press conference, answering reporters’ questions and articulating the vision of why the clinic is needed. Dr. Rhyneer has been the driving force behind this effort and deserves special thanks.

APS would also like to thank all those who have given of their time, money and effort over the past 2 years to this project including ASMA, Providence Hospital and ASHNA. Additional thanks to Drs. Levy, Nesbitt, and Hurlburt for their many hours of work. Finally, APS would like to thank Dr. Mark Moronell for his time studying the viability of this type of clinic model and making available to the group his business plan at no cost.
